Duane Alan Rhyno's law licence reinstated with conditions

The Nova Scotia Barristers Society has reinstated the licence of Lower Sackville lawyer Duane Alan Rhyno, with conditions.

Rhyno currently faces five charges, including human trafficking and sexual assault

The Nova Scotia Barristers Society has reinstated the licence of Lower Sackville lawyer Duane Alan Rhyno, with conditions.

On Oct. 1, Rhyno was charged with human trafficking and sexual assault. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.

The 46-year-old was arrested by Kings District RCMP after a three-month investigation.

As of last Friday, Rhyno is permitted to practise law with conditions, according to the barristers society.

Rhyno is not allowed to handle cases having to do with sexual assault, human trafficking, or some offences relating to prostitution.

Heis charged with:

  • One count of human trafficking
  • One count of financial gain from human trafficking
  • One count of aiding and abetting prostitution
  • One count of living off the avails of prostitution
  • One count of sexual assault

None of the charges have been tested in court.

Rhyno has been ordered to return to court Oct. 27.
