Lunenburg County man seriously injured after falling off roof in Waverley

Nova Scotia RCMP have handed over the investigation of a serious industrial workplace accident to the Labour Department.

Nova Scotia's Department of Labour has issued a stop-work order at the Rocky Lake Drive site

A 55-year-old Lunenburg County man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after falling off a roof in Waverley on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to a business on Rocky Lake Drive at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Police said the man fell while he was working on the roof of a building under renovation. He was taken to the hospital and is being treated for a head injury, said Nova Scotia RCMP.

Stop-work order issued

The RCMP has turned the investigation over to Nova Scotia's Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

Andrew Preeper, a spokesman for the department, said inspectors with the occupational health and safety division were sent to the work site Tuesday afternoon.

"A stop-work order was issued by our department and remains in effect while the investigation is ongoing," he said.
