Halifax firefighters say no one was injured after a house fire in West Porters Lake that was reported early Saturday morning.

Crews were initially called about a possible forest fire in the area of Capri Drive around 2:30 a.m.

"The forest fire turned out to be a house fire and when crews arrived the house was fully involved in fire, fully engulfed," said duty division commander Chuck Bezanson.

The two-story home has since collapsed due to damage.

Crews were able to confirm the homeowners were on vacation at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained at the scene through much of Saturday morning to putout hot spots.

The road remains open to traffic.
