Post-tropical storm Colin gifts a rainy week to Nova Scotia

Post-tropical storm Colin may be moving on, but the disturbance left in its wake will be around for the next couple of days.

Colin's departing coattails have hitched onto a large and near-stationary area of low pressure just outside of James Bay. The partnership will enhance rainfall amounts as it sweeps across the eastern part of the Maritimes tonight and into Thursday.

Thundershowers

Most areas in Nova Scotia will get an additional 15 mm to 20 mm of rain by Thursday morning.

With all that unstable moisture in the air, there is a risk of thundershowers tonight in central, eastern and northern parts of the mainland, as well as on Cape Breton Island.

Conditions will be on the breezy side as well, with southwest winds topping out at 40 km/h.

Start to dry tomorrow

Conditions will start to dry out Thursday in the west, but the rain will hang on in the north and east well into Friday.

The clearing trend continues into Friday night, and helping to make way for a mostly sunny day on Saturday.
