Halifax Common ready for 2nd show

The Halifax Common will remain in musical limbo until the next big concert in two weeks.

The Halifax Common will remain in musical limbo until the next big concert in two weeks.

Site manager Dave MacKay said most of the equipment from Saturday's Halifax Rocks concert will stay up for Country Rockfest.

"We'll create a construction zone again and open up parts of the Commons so people can use it for baseball," he said. "And the stage is staying up, but we've lowered the roof that we hang all the speakers and what not on."

Crews will readjust the stage a few days before the Aug. 6-7 country musical festival, he added.

The Black Eyed Peas capped a sunny day of hip hip, pop and indie rock Saturday. Other acts included Weezer and local rapper Classified.

It was supposed to be a two-day festival, but Friday's show featuring Kid Rock and the Counting Crows was cancelled.

Alan Jackson headlines Country Rockfest 2010. Kevin Costner, likely better known as an actor, is also playing.

Several concerts have been held at the Halifax Common in recent years, including the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and KISS.
