Everybody safe after fire on Halifax navy vessel

Fire fighters were working to extinguish a fire late Thursday evening aboard a navy vessel in Halifax.

Fire fighters were working to extinguish a fire late Thursday evening aboard a navy vessel in Halifax.

"Everybody on board's accounted for and safe, so we're all good,"Halifax Fire Deputy ChiefChuck Bezanson said on the phonefrom the scene.

He had 18 crew at the scene, he said. Bezanson did not know which navy vessel caughtfire.

As of 10:45 p.m., the fire was three floors below deck, he said.

"We haven't found the actual seatof the fire yet," Bezanson said. "We're working hard to get it."
