Halifax police issue arrest warrant for 20-year-old in alleged trafficking

Owen Ross Gibson-Skeir, 20, of East Preston is accused of trafficking a 14-year-old girl, sexual assault, and is being sought by police.

An East Prestonman accused of trafficking a 14-year-old girl and sexual assaultis being sought by police.

Halifaxpolice have issued an arrest warrant forOwen Ross Gibson-Skeir, 20, StaffSgt. Bill Morris said in an email Friday.

He is believedto be in Halifax, policesaid.

Gibson-Skeiris described as 5'8", 130 lbs, slim build with grey eyes and reddish-coloured hair and facial hair. He has visible tattoos on his face, neck and hands.

Police said they believe theteen girl was being sexually exploited.

Investigatorsallege an adult man was trafficking the girl in Dartmouth and Halifax between Jan. 10 and March 9, Morris said in the release.

Gibson-Skeir faces the following charges:

  • procuring a person under the age of 18
  • trafficking a person under the age of 18
  • sexual assault
  • invitation to sexual touching
  • sexual interference
  • assault
  • uttering threats
  • advertising sexual services
  • material benefit from trafficking a person under the age of 18
  • material benefit from sexual services
  • breach of probation

Police say Gibson-Skeir is considered dangerous and if members of the public see him, they should call 911 and shouldnot approach him.
