Halifax winter parking ban nets 882 tickets for Wednesday

Hundreds of drivers in the Halifax area woke up on Wednesday to find a ticket on their windshield for violating the winter parking ban.

Enforced between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Hundreds of drivers in the Halifax area woke up on Wednesday to find a ticket on their windshield for violating the winter parking ban.

The Halifax Regional Municipality's parking enforcement team issued 347 tickets and the Halifax Regional police handed out 535, for a total of 882 tickets.

On Wednesday morning between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., the overnight winter parking ban was enforced for the second time this season.

The first time this season that the ban was enforced on Jan. 5 the city and the police handed out a combined 335 tickets.

The winter parking ban season began on Dec. 15, 2014 and goes until March 31, 2015. Like last season, the ban will be enforced only during declared snow and ice events.

Anyone violated the ban can be ticketed or towed.
