The crash happened between the Port Medway Road exit and the Liverpool exit.

The 26-year-old woman who died was a passenger in the small car. The driver of that car a 40-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer had minor injuries.

A section of Highway 103 is expected to be closed for the rest of the day and motorists are being asked to avoid the stretch between Exit 17A and Exit 19.

The CBC's Mary-Catherine McIntosh was at the scene and says several loud pops could be heard coming from the truck. She said she could feel the heat from the fire as she drove by.
