The general manager of a junior hockey team says a player who died this week during tryouts collapsed suddenly while he was waiting to participate in a drill.

Sylvain Couturier, general manager of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, said Wednesday that Jordan Boyd didn't speak to anyone before he collapsed.

The16-year-old boy died Monday while training with the team, which plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Couturier said the players on the ice were participating in a flow drill that involved skating and passing a puck.

The league has said a physical therapist provided CPR after Boyd collapsed at the rink in Bathurst.

The club said earlier this week that Boyd had a medical evaluation before training camp and didn't appear to have any medical problems that prevented him from participating.

Results from an autopsy on the cause of death have not been released.
