Homicide investigators comb north end Halifax

Halifax Regional Police were busy in the north end Friday afternoon in relation to the ongoing homicide investigation in the death of Ryan Matthew White, the CBC has learned.

Halifax Regional Police were busy in the city's north endFriday afternoon in relation tothe ongoing homicide investigation in the death of Ryan Matthew White, the CBC learned.

Police found White on the pavement outside a building in the Mulgrave Park public housing complextwo years ago. He was suffering from a chest wound.

Friday, police combed the area between Union Street and Devonshire Avenue, just below Fort Needham Park.

Homicide investigators, the identification unit, as well as the canine unit and other officerswere on scene.

They used metal detectors in a heavily wooded area where there are walking trails.

Const. Brian Palmeter told CBC News, policewere searching for evidence.

Const. Palmeter said the area was searched by investigators at the time of the murder, but police believe this new search may reveal evidence that will allow them to lay charges.

"We received information recently with respect to the ongoing investigation, that has led investigators back to search this area," he said,"Obviously I can't get into what we're looking for but we believe there's evidence here that will help us in the investigation."

Palmeter said the area was searched by investigators at the time of the murder, but police believe this new search may reveal evidence that will allow them to lay charges.
