Man in hospital after Dartmouth shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in Dartmouth that has left a man injured and put Dartmouth General Hospital into lockdown. The area has since reopened.

Police are investigating a shooting in Dartmouth that injured oneman and put a hospital into lockdown.

Halifax Regional Police sayofficers were called to the 500 block of Portland Street around 9 p.m. Fridayabout a shooting that had justtaken place.

Police say a man showed up to Dartmouth General Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds about 30 minutes later.

The hospital was then put into lockdownand police were called

"The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available," a police statement said.

At 1:20 a.m., Halifax Regional Police said in a release that they have cleared the area and it has reopened. They confirmed the victim isa 33-year-old man who hasnon-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

There is no information about a suspect at this time, the release said.

It said investigators with the integrated criminal investigation division are conducting the investigation, which is in its preliminary stages.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
