Halifax's sidewalk debate is heating up as two Halifax women are calling for a protest Friday afternoon. They say the thick ice is making the city inaccessible for people with disabilities, and the conditions are unacceptable.

Over the last few weeks, the city has said the topsy-turvy temperature has created a huge challenge for snow clearing crews. As the snow as defrosted and then frozen repeatedly, it's created solid ice several inches thick, and snow piles are like concrete.

But that hasn't stopped some people from saying the city needs to do more. The CBC's Carolyn Ray drove around the city Friday to take a closer look at some of the sidewalk conditions.
