Juno nominees include seven Nova Scotians

Seven NovaScotiaartists picked up Juno nominations Tuesday at the nominee press conference heldat the legendary Danforth Music Hall in Toronto.

Sarah McLachlan, a Halifax native now living in B.C.,picked up two nominations for artistof the year and adult contemporary album of the year.

Here's what the other Nova Scotians are in the running for:

• Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year:Chelsea Amber,Introducing Chelsea Amber.
• Electronic Album of the Year:Ryan Hemsworth, Alone for the First Time.
• Songwriter of the Year:Jenn Grant.
• Songwriter of the Year: Henry "Cirkut" Walter.
• Adult Alternative Album of the Year:Jenn Grant,Compostela.
• R&B/Soul Recording of the Year:JRDN.
• Breakthrough Group of the Year: Alvvays(including Nova Scotia'sMolly Rankin).
• Alternative Album of the Year: Alvvays, Alvvays.
• Roots/Traditional Album of the Year (Group): Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, South (including Nova Scotian Stephen Fearing).

James Hill, a Vancouver native who has been living in Brookfield in Colchester County for several years, is nominated in the solo roots/traditional album of the year category forThe Old Silo.

The 2015 Juno award week will take place in Hamilton, Ont.,from March 9 toMarch15.

The 44th annual Juno Awards will be handed out during the gala on March 15 at the FirstOntario Centre.
