The mother of a 25-year-old Nova Scotiaman with mental disabilities who went missing from the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre in mid-October says he's been located in Edmonton.

Landon Webb, who was last seen Oct. 15., is now on his way back to Nova Scotia, his mother says.

Brenda Webb says the family first heard from him last week and confirmed on Sunday that he was, in fact, out West.

"I feel elated that firstly that he's alive, of course, that made us feel a lot better," she said. "Once he's closer I'll feel that much better again and once I see him I imagine there will be a lot more weight lifted off my shoulder."

Landon Webb functions at the level of a 10 to 12-year-old and has been declared legally incompetent by the courts. He also has a number of medical issues including epilepsy, heart disease, asthma and language and anxiety disorders.

Bringing himhome has proved a complicated process and Brenda Webb says she spent the past several nights trying to arrange a safe route.

"We don't know how he got out there and we won't know until he gets into our area and we have the opportunity to discuss things with Landon," she said.

Brenda Webb says she won't disclose details of how he's getting home, but says the family is keeping track of his location.

She says it's unclear if her son has been taking his medications.
