Landon Webb gets 48-hour reprieve at Kings Regional Rehab

The Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre says it will allow a 24-year-old man with a mental disability to stay in the facility until Friday at noon.

'I'm not sure if it matters or not,' says Brenda Webb as family scrambles to meet noon Friday deadline

The Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre says it will allow a 24-year-old man with a mental disability to stay in the facility until Friday at noon.

Landon Webb functions at the level of a 10- to 12-year-old person and requires around-the-clock specialized care.

Last week, his mother Brenda Webb was told he would be discharged on Wednesday because the rehab centre could no longer care for him.

Tuesday afternoon, Webb was told her son could stay for two more days.

"For us it doesn't change anything for stress and for the fact that Landon is still going through this," said Webb. "I'm not sure if it matters or not. Time will tell."

Webb says it's impossible for her family to look after Webbbecause of thelevel of care he needs.

The family is depending on the Department of Community Services to find an appropriate facility for Webb.

"We're just really overwhelmed and we're really concerned," Webb said. "We're hoping at least by that decision to change the discharge date until Friday, it will allow community service a bit more time to find a home for Landon."

She says she's been given no indication if the extension will go beyond Friday.
