Landon Webb missing from Kings Regional Rehab in Waterville

A Nova Scotia man with a mental disability, who is facing a discharge from the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre against his parents' wishes, is missing.

Kings District RCMP are asking the public for help locating Landon Webb, who was last seen Thursday at 4 p.m. in the area of County Home Road in Waterville. That's where the rehabilitation centre is located.

Webb, who functions at the level of a 10 to 12-year-old, requires around-the-clock specialized care and has been declared incompetent by the courts. He also has epilepsy, heart disease, asthma and language and anxiety disorders.

This is not the first time Webb has been missing for a considerable amount of time just the first time the police have told the public.

Brenda Webb, Landon's mother, said he's been gone as long as nine days in the past, but that doesn't ease their concerns.

"There's always that possibility, it's been known to happen, they just don't come back," Webb told CBC News on Tuesday morning. "That's our concern here."

Landon Webb, who was facing a discharge order from the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, was given a two-day reprieve last week. On Friday, his mother said they were granted an additional five days as they secure a new place for him to live.

'Risks are great while he's out there'

Webb said her son's condition is deteriorating, and he has been spending time with people who do drugs. He's allowed to have time on his own in the community but his parents believe he shouldn't be allowed in the community without supervision.

"The risks are great while he's out there. And of course he doesn't have his medication," said Webb.

Brenda Webb said they're at a crucial stage where her son needs to be found. The family has been out in the community trying to find him.

"It always means no sleep, no rest, it's a constant worry," she said.

The Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, located in Waterville, treats people with intellectual disabilities, cognitive challenges and chronic mental illness.

Webb is white, five feet five inches tall and weighs approximately 145 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
