Man, 18, charged with IWK shooting appears in court

A young man charged in a high-profile shooting outside a Halifax children's hospital appeared briefly in court Friday.

A young man charged in a high-profile shooting outside a Halifax children's hospital appeared briefly in court Friday.

Aaron Gregory Marriott, 18, is charged with three counts of attempted murder and numerous firearms offences.

Marriott is accused of trying to kill Jason Hallett, 27, three times in recent months,most recently outside the IWK Health Centre.

Hallett ended up with an injured wrist in the Nov. 18shooting.

Marriott was arrested Thursday afternoon after leaving a hotel in Dartmouth.

He remains in custody until next Friday, when he's scheduled to return to Halifax provincial court to enter pleas to the charges.

Halifax Regional Police have said the IWK shooting is related to several violent incidents connected to an ongoing drug war in the region.
