Man swept away at Peggys Cove

A search is underway at Peggys Cove, N.S., after a 28-year-old man was swept off the rocks near the lighthouse around 6:15 p.m. AT.

A search is underway at Peggys Cove, N.S., after a 28-year-old man was swept off the rocks near the lighthouse around 6:15 p.m. AT.

The manhad been watching waves with his girlfriend, who was not injured.

Heis described as an experienced athlete and diver but he was not in diving gear at the time.

Rescue teams responded with a sea, land and air hunt for the man.

Two police officerswho joined the search atPeggys Covewere also swept off the rock, but both were rescued. They were taken to a hospital in Halifax. Their condition is not known but is believednot to be serious.
