Power restored after storm blows through Maritimes

Power has been restored after thousands in the Maritimes werewithout electricityon Sunday morning after a messy storm system swept across the region.

Environment Canada has lifted weather alerts for N.B., P.E.I. and N.S.

Power has been restored afterthousands in the Maritimes werewithout electricityon Sunday morning after a messy storm system swept across the region.

Environment Canada has lifted all weather alerts for New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. There were wind warnings acrossthe region and a risk of storm surge in coastal areas.

New Brunswick's provincial utility was showing no remaining outages on its map.

As of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nova Scotia Power's outage map showed showed no major outages, compared toabout 3,600 earlier in the morning.

Maritime Electric was reporting power has been restored to all of its customerswho were without power in P.E.I. on Sunday morning.

Bay Ferries cancelled crossings from Digby and Saint John, N.B., on Sunday. The Saint John departure scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday was also cancelled.

Service was expected to resume with the 4 p.m. departure from Digby on Monday.

The Confederation Bridge closed on Saturday night but has reopened.
