Nova Scotias governing Liberals remain the provinces most popular political party, according to a new poll.

Corporate Research Associates asked 800 Nova Scotians how satisfied they were with Stephen McNeils government.

Their popularity is rising:

  • Nov. 2014: 63% mostly/completely satisfied

  • Feb. 2014: 58% mostly/completelysatisfied

Margaret Brigley, CRAs president, called the popularity unprecedented.

"What we have not seen in more than 15 years is a period from the election, a year later where weve had incremental growth in public satisfaction with the performance of the government, she said Monday.

About 25 per cent are dissatisfied with the government.

Also, 64per cent of decided voters said theyd back the Liberals in a new election, compared to 18 per cent for the Progressive Conservatives and 15 per cent for the NDP.

Among the party leaders, McNeil again earned the most support:

  • 47% backed McNeil as best leader
  • 14% backed PC Leader Jamie Baillie
  • 11% backed interim NDP Leader Maureen MacDonald

The poll was conducted from Nov. 6 to Nov. 26 and CRA considers the results accurate to within plus-minus 3.5 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
