Man evades police by driving truck through N.S. golf course

The Mounties said the man was in a blackpickup truck with no licence plate when he was seen by officers Wednesday night on Highway 1.

A suspect has been arrested after a man fled fromRCMPby driving a truck over agolf course in the Comeauville, N.S., area.

The Mounties said in a news release Thursdaythe man was in a blackpickup truck with no licence plate when he was seen by officers Wednesday night on Highway 1.

They said an officer tried to execute a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply. The officer then followed the truck that was travelling at what police called"an increasing rate of speed in a dangerous manner."

The driver then turned onto PFComeau Road, still travelling quickly.

RCMP say the officer deactivated his lights and sirens and stopped his vehicle. He was able to see the mandrive onto a golf course and into a wooded area.

The truck was later found abandoned near the end of the golfcourse.

He appeared in provincial court Thursday and is set to make another court appearance in August.
