Searchers locate missing 4-year-old boy in Pictou County early Sunday

Previously, the Mounties said the young boywas last seen at 5 p.m. Saturday when he wandered off while playing outside.

A four-year-old boy from Springville, N.S., was found safe Sunday morning after being reported missing Saturday evening, according to theRCMP.

The young boywas last seen around5 p.m. Saturday when he wandered off while playing outside.

Const. Wayne Cathcart, an incident commander with the RCMP,was at the search. He said it was "like Christmas morningbut 10 times better" when search teams found thechild.

"The community here was amazing, as far as wanting to be able to help out," he said. "It's not just about the individual family, it's the whole community that feels the impact."

Search and rescue teams with more than 100 volunteersfrom East Hants, Pictou, Colchester and the RCMPlooked for the childSaturday night and into Sunday morning.

Cpl. Chris Marshall said helicopters were also used in the search.

A tweet from police said the boy was found in a field about two kilometres from his house around 9 a.m. and was treated by EHS for signs of exposure.
