No charges in garbage truck collision with woman, 83

Halifax Regional Police say they dont expect to lay charges in the case of an 83-year-old woman who was critically injured during a collision with a garbage truck Thursday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police say they dont expect to lay charges in the case of an 83-year-old woman who was critically injured during a collision with a garbage truck Thursday afternoon.

Investigators have determined the woman fell and ended up underneath the truck, Const. Pierre Bourdages said Friday.

Bourdages said the woman remains in hospital with severe leg injuries. He said the garbage truck driver and his employer are cooperating with investigators.

The accident happened around 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Portland and Maynard Streets in Dartmouth.

A witness told CBC News the woman was trying to throw a bagof garbage in the truck when she fell.
