North Preston freezing death of dog being investigated

The Nova ScotiaSPCA is investigating after receiving a report about a dog that may have frozen to death in North Preston.

The animal society received the call on Dec. 23.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they found the body of a dog which was seized and sent for anecropsy. The official cause of death has not yet been determined, said David Ross, chief investigative officer.

"The Nova ScotiaSPCAwould like to remind all pet owners of their responsibility to provide shelter to all pets from injurious cold," the society said in a statement.

Ross reminds pet ownersthat "if it's too cold out for you, it's too cold for your pet."
