A 28-year-old woman is dead after a Saturday morning collision between her vehicle and as many as two semi-trailer trucks near Mahone Bay, police say.

In a release issued Sunday, Lunenburg District RCMP say they were notified of a crash in Martins River on Highway 103, east of Exit 10, at around 10 a.m.

Once there, they determined a collision had occurred between a westbound SUV and a truck travelling eastbound, and possibly a truck travelling west.

Each vehicle only had one occupant. The driver of the westbound truck was not injured, while the driver of the eastbound truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 103 between exits 9 and 10 was closed for several hours.

Police say an investigation is underway.
