Damp weather won't stick around in Nova Scotia

Your patience with the weather will soon pay off because if the current forecast holds up, this weekend looks to be one of the nicest stretches of weather so far this spring.

The clearing trend has already begun in the west but some showers or periods of drizzle will still linger in the east tonight and into tomorrow.

That same area of low pressure that's been looming over Atlantic Canada for the last week may not be an intense system, but it is packing a large cloud shield.

Cool and soggy

Combined with its damp demeanour and sluggish nature, those in the east can expect to play host to this soggy sort for another day or so.

It's mainly cloudy tonight with a chance of showers or drizzle, except in the Annapolis Valley and in the southwest where it will be partly cloudy.

With winds persisting from the northwest, temperature values will remain cooler than seasonal until Saturday.

The low will continue to move east and cross Newfoundland overnight tonight, dragging its cloudy entrails with it.

An area of high pressure will build into the region on Thursday, clearing the skies and helping temperatures return back to their seasonal values.

The province will be on the cold side of that ridge on Friday, but by Saturday, winds shift west and as they do, temperatures start to climb quickly.

It looks like temperatures across the province could reach well above the seasonal average this weekend.

With that and the clear skies in mind remember to slather on the sunscreen because no one wants to spend three sunny days in a rownursing a sunburn.
