RCMP divers ended the search Sunday for the body of James Donald Quattrocchi of Smiths Falls, Ont.

The 25-year-old man fell into the water at Peggys Cove on Wednesday after a large wave knocked him off the rocks. Divers were not able to locate Quattrocchi's body.

Search efforts, which started Wednesday, were earlier suspended because of rough sea conditions.

The search resumed Sunday morning as a recovery operation, but ended around 3 p.m.

"The conditions over the last number of days out there, as people who are aware of that area can attest to, it's very rough sea conditions, large swells for most of the days that followed this incident," said Nova Scotia RCMP Cpl. Andrew Joyce.

Joyce says the swells made it hard for their boat's radar to read what is on the ocean floor.

Police are asking the public to contact the Tantallon RCMP detachment if anyone in the Peggys Cove area locates items that could help in the investigation.
