A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the disappearance of a fisherman from Petit-de-Grat,a small fishing village in Cape Breton.

Cape Breton RCMP have spent the last several days searching for Phillip Boudreau, whowas last seen on his boat in the harbour Saturday morning. About an hour later, the boat was discovered overturned withthe motor missing.

On Thursday, the RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit arrested a suspect, a 40-year-old Petit-de-Grat man. They made the announcement in a news release, which offered no other details about the investigation.

Officers told CBC News earlier in the week that they believed Boudreau was involved in an altercation with a larger boat. A vessel called the Twin Maggies was seized as part of the investigation.

Divers are continuing to search the water in an effort to find Boudreau's body.
