Robert Jason MacKenzie named as man charged in Nicole Campbell's death

A 36-year-old Pictou County manis spending the weekend in jail on a murder charge, after a woman was found killed in New Glasgow earlier this week.

Police say Robert Jason MacKenzie was arrested on Thursday at the scene of the crime, a downtownapartment building.

The man, who is known to police, was charged yesterday with second-degree murderand will appear in a Pictou courtroom on Monday.

A 911 tip led officers to a Temperance Street apartment building where they found the body of 33-year-old Nicole Campbell on Wednesday afternoon.

New Glasgow Police Const.Ken MacDonald says an autopsy was completed yesterday, but he is not saying how Campbell died, or whether a weapon was involved.

He confirms it was not a random attack, but will not say whether the pair knew each other.

MacDonald says forensic officers were still processing the scene, a second floor apartment,as of Saturday afternoon.
