A former Nova Scotia businessman who was extradited from India to face43 counts of sex-related offences, was denied bail in a Port Hawkesbury court Monday.

Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh, 64, appeared before a provincial court judge who remanded him until his next appearance on July 23. There is a publication ban on evidence heard at the bail hearing.

The charges against him include indecent assault and gross indecency involving males thought to have been teens at the time of the alleged incidents.

MacIntosh was returned to Canada earlier this month from India, where he had been living for 13 years, following a lengthy extradition process.

Before moving to India, MacIntosh had operated his own electronics company in Port Hawkesbury. He had also been involved in the executive boards of a Junior B hockey association and the Cape Breton Offshore Trade Association.
