Procession held for service members killed in chopper crash

Two homecoming motorcade processions were held in Halifax this evening for Capt. Brenden MacDonald, Capt. Maxime Miron-Morin, Sub.-Lt. Matthew Pyke and Master Cpl. Matthew Cousins.

Motorcades departed Halifax airport at 6:45 p.m.

Two homecoming motorcade processions were held in Halifax this evening for Capt. Brenden MacDonald, Capt. Maxime Miron-Morin, Sub.-Lt. Matthew Pyke and Master Cpl. Matthew Cousins.

The fourwere among the six Canadian Armed Forced members who died after amilitary helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean Sea in April.The military said Saturday that remains from all on board had now been identified.

The homecoming for Sub.-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough was held inNova Scotia in Mayand a homecoming forCapt.Kevin Hagen will be held in Victoria on Saturday.

The departure time for today'sprocessions began at 6:45 p.m. local time at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The procession was originally scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. but was delayed one hour. It ended just before 9 p.m.

The processionfor Pyke, who wasfrom Truro, N.S.,ended atMattatall-Varner Funeral Home at 55 Young St.inTruro.

MacDonald, Miron-Morin and Cousins went to the Atlantic Funeral Home in Dartmouth.

The families werejoined by military and civilian dignitaries inpolice-escorted motorcades.
