Purcells Cove Road fatal bike crash will not result in charges

The driver of a propane truck involved in a fatal bicycle collision will not be charged, say Halifax Regional Police.

Police have identified the cyclist as 49-year-old Loresa Makonin of Halifax

Police determined the cyclist, who was travelling on Herring Cove Road, collided with a propane truck making a lawful right-hand turn from Herring Cove Road onto Purcells Cove Road. (Elizabeth Chiu/CBC)

The driver of a propane truck involved in a fatal bicycle collision will not be charged, say Halifax Regional Police.

A 49-year-old woman was killed last Wednesday when she collided witha Superior Propane truck on Purcells Cove Road near Herring Cove Road.

Police determinedthe cyclist,who was travelling on Herring Cove Road, collided with a propane truck making a lawful right-hand turn from Herring Cove Road onto Purcells Cove Road.

Police have identified the cyclist asLoresa Makonin of Halifax.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy," said police in a statement.
