Halifax police have obtained a search warrant for an Oceanview Drive home in Purcells Covewhere they found a body Saturday morning.

Police were called to theresidenceat 7:45a.m. after receiving a call from the home, they say.

They are releasing little information about the death which they call suspicious and will not say if theperson is a man or woman or the age of the deceased.

"We believe we know who it is, but we have to confirm the identity,"police spokeswomanTheresaRathsaid. She said police are in the process of contacting the person's next of kin.

The search warrant was obtainedlate in the afternoon, allowing forensic identification officers to begin processing the scene. An autopsy will be scheduled after that work is done, Rath said.

Rath said police likely will remove the body from the home Saturday night. Officers won't work through the evening, but anticipate being back on the scene Sunday morning, she sad.

Two men in the home

In addition to the body, Rath said there were only two other people inside the home.

One manimmediatelywas taken to hospital for treatment of "significant" injuries and placed under arrest,Rathsaid.

Although no longer under arrest as of 2:30 p.m., he remains a person of interest, she said.

The second man was first reported as being under arrest, but Rath later clarified he went in for questioning willingly. His involvement has been ruled out, she said.

The call first"came in as an 'unknown trouble call,' based on what was described to us," she said."This is very early in the investigation, and at this point we can't get into any details."

Investigators waitingto process scene

Several police cruisers and a K-9 unit were in the Oceanview Drive areaSaturday morning. Police blocked off a section of the street for much of the day.

Neighbour Kwan Wong said he noticed the police while he was eating breakfast, but he didn't receive anyinformation from officers.

"This is a very peaceful neighbourhood.I can't really believe anything like this can happen in this neighbourhood. It's really unimaginable how this kind of thing can happen here," he said.
