Ray Ivany expected to recover fully from heart attack: Acadia

The president of Acadia University is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a heart attack earlier this week, a university spokesperson said Thursday evening.

Ray Ivany will be off work while recovering, Acadia spokesperson Scott Roberts said.

"We're not sure how long that will be," Roberts said. "He's expected to recover fully and return to work, I'm sure as soon as he's allowed rather than as soon as he'd like."

Paul Jewers, the chairperson of the school's board of governors, will work with the executive team during Ivany's absence, Roberts said.

Ivanyhas been president and vice-chancellor of Acadia University in Wolfville for more than six years.

He recently chairedthe Nova Scotia Commission on Building Our New Economy in 2014, out of which cameNow orNever: An Urgent Call to Action for NovaScotians, commonly-known as theIvanyreport.
