Nova Scotia RCMP puppies bound into service

Nova Scotia RCMP have two very rambunctious and very furry new members.

Brothers Helo and Hamer were born at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta., ten weeks ago.

The puppies will spend the next year in the Police Dog Service's puppy program, and then they'll be assessed for police dog training.

Helo and Hamer will spend the next year in the Police Dog Service's puppy program.

Helo (pronounced HE-low) and Hamer (pronounced hammer) are now matched up with an RCMP member who is interested in becoming a dog handler.

Nova Scotia RCMP say they'll be documenting the journeys of their youngest recruits on social media.

There's been plenty of public interest in past canine recruits. Earlier this year, the Mounties received 21,000 submissions in a name the puppy contest.
