RCMP seek tips in teacher slaying

RCMP in Halifax are once again asking for help to find Paula Gallant's killer.

RCMP in Halifax are once again asking for help to find Paula Gallant's killer.

RCMP released new photos of the Timberlea teacher and her car on Friday, hoping someone will come forward with information.

"We've gone door to door, but it's a highly travelled area," said Const. Joe Taplin, "so that's why we're making the request seeking anyone who might have been in the area."

Gallant's body was found in the trunk of her green 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier just after midnight on Dec. 28. The car was parked outside Beechville Lakeside Timberlea elementary school, where Gallant taught Grade 3.

RCMP are not saying how Gallant died, only that it was a homicide.

Gallant left her house on Dec. 27 to go shopping. Her family reported her missing around 10 p.m. when she hadn't returned.

About two hours later, a relative spotted her car in the school parking lot and called police.

RCMP say as far as they know, Gallant's last conversation was with her sister at 1:30 p.m.

Investigators want to speak with anyone who was at the Timberlea school or playground between 1:30 and 7 p.m, from the time Gallant was last heard from to when a resident saw her car.
