Ryan Millet to complete Dalhousie-ordered remediation

The final male student to resume clinical duties after the Facebook scandal at Dalhousie University's dental schoolsays he will complete remediation the school has ordered.

Ryan Millet was the 13th male student involved in the scandal. On March 2, Dalhousie said the 12 other male students had returned to clinical duties. However Millet was suspended until March 6.

Millet's lawyer, Bruce MacIntosh, told CBC News his client was excluded from the restorative justice process the other dentistry students are doing because Millet refused to admit to unprofessional behaviour.

MacIntosh said Millet's only involvement with the Facebook group was clicking "Like" on a photo from a humour website. Millet has said he was the student who helped to expose the Facebook page to female students.

Millet is participating in the remediation program which he must complete to the satisfaction of the university in order to graduate.

"My wife and others know I am not misogynist, sexist, or homophobic," Millet wrote in a statement released to the media Sunday. "I must be content with that support, regardless of any contrary opinions of the [disciplinary] committee."

Millet says he is "willingly engaging in the remediation training sessions with an open mind." He also states that he is too invested in his chosen career to stop his education, as he has a wife and three children under four.
