Attempted murder charge laid after shooting in Cape Breton

A man was taken to hospital in Halifax with serious head injuries and another man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting on Oram Drive in the Cape Breton community of Florence on Thursday.

One man is in hospital and another is facing charges including attempted murderafter a shooting in Cape Breton on Thursday.

The incident happened on Oram Drive in Florence just after noon.

Cape Breton Regional Police saya man was taken to hospital in Sydney with head injuries as a result of the shooting and was later flown to Halifax for treatment.

The victim is described as a 28-year-old man from Alder Point, near Florence.

In a news release Friday, police say a 24-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder, uttering threats, possession of a dangerous weapon, careless use and pointing of a firearm and breaches of a previous court order.

The shooting is still under investigation and is believed to be an isolated incident between two men who know each other, police say.
