Stephen Gregory Tynes pleads guilty to weapons charge

A suspended medical school student fromDalhousie University pleaded guilty last week to a weapons charge.

On Friday, Stephen Gregory Tynes pleaded guiltytounauthorized possession of a prohibited device in relation to an over-capacity cartridge magazine.

He will appear in court to face sentencing on Oct. 26.

Last August, Tyneswas charged with making death threats against two people connected to the university. Those charges were later dropped in exchange for a peace bond being applied to Tynes.

As part of the peace bond hearing process,Tynes's psychiatrist testified that she went to police with her concerns because she felt the daughter of a university official was in imminent danger of being harmed.

Tynes told his psychiatrist he thought about shooting up to 20 people, before killing himself.

Tynes still faces a charge of sexual assault in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in May 2013, a crime for which he was charged in March.

That case returns tomental health court on Sept. 22.

In June, a Dalhousie spokesperson saidTynesis still suspended and remains "banned from all university campuses pending the outcome of internal university processes."
