In October of 2011 the first news came out that the Department of Veterans Affairs was planning big budget cuts over the next few years.

Spending was expected to decrease, said government documents, due to a dwindling number of veterans.

Nine Veterans Affairs offices across the country are closing, including one in Sydney.

The CBCs Gary Mansfield spoke to some of the students involved in the campaign to keep the Sydney office open.
