Three pedestrians hit in less than three hours in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police say three pedestrians in three separate marked crosswalks across Halifax and Dartmouth were struck by vehicles less than three hours apart from one another Monday night.

Hollis and Duke

The first call to police came in after5:30 p.m.at the intersection of Hollis Street and Duke Street in Halifax.

A truck driven by a 48-year-old man was making a turn when ithit a 49-year-old woman who was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The woman was taken to hospital by EHS paramedics for treatment.

The driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

Pleasant and Atlantic

Less than an hour later, at 6:20 p.m.,police received another call about a pedestrian getting hit.

This time, it was at theintersection of Pleasant Streetand Atlantic Street in Dartmouth.

A 38-year-old woman was crossing Pleasant Street in a marked crosswalk when she wasstruck by a car that had been travelling on Pleasant Street.

Shewas also taken to hospital.

The driver of the car was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

Lacewood

At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a third call about a pedestrian getting hit by a car at the 300 block of LacewoodDrive.

A 30-year-old woman was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk on Lacewood Drive when she was hit by a van.

The woman was taken to hospital.

The 48-year-old man behind the wheel of the van was issued aticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
