For the second time in six years, the town council in Mulgrave will vote Mondayon whether to dissolve and join the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.

Thetown's public input committee met Wednesday night, heard from residents andrecommended dissolving the town and joining the surroundingmunicipality.

"It's a big decision council has to make; to do the right thing for the public and the residents ofthe town,"Mayor Lorne MacDonaldtold CBC News.

He said council has been waiting to hear what residents wantand he thinks they got the message loud and clear last night.

'Caught between a rock and a hard place'

MacDonald said while some were worried about losing services such as garbage pickup, snow removal and water and sewerrepairs, the majority of people felt it best to amalgamate because they can't afford to pay more taxes.

"Council has been told many times don't increase taxes and this is where we're caught between a rock and a hard place," the mayor said.

"If we want stuff done we've got to increase taxes and it'sa burden on the residents which is not acceptable."

The mayor believescouncil will vote in favour of dissolution, somethingthecouncil of 2009 rejected.

Ifthat happens, council will make the request to the Nova Scotia Utilityand Review Board, which will make the final determination.
