Truro police officer Catherine Campbell missing

The family of a missing Truro police constable is calling on the public to help find her.

Halifax Regional Police say 36-year-old Catherine Campbell was last seen in Dartmouth on the morning of Sept. 10. Campbell is a constable with the Truro Police Service.

Monday morning, Campbell was scheduled to report for work but didn't show up. Her sister says that's not Campbell's nature.

"She never misses work," said Amy Garneau. "She wouldn't miss work unless there was a reasonthat she couldn't get to work."

"I got a call at nine o'clock Monday morning from Truro police, looking for her," said Dwight Campbell, Catherine's father.

"She just loved working with the fire department and the police force. And she really thought highly of her job and she enjoyed her job."

Campbell's mother, Susan, says the family has no idea where she might be.

"Please, please get in touch with Halifax police because as you can imagine, her family is going through hell," she said. "Her family is heartbroken, we just want to know where she is and we want her to get home."

Garneausaid Campbell is originally fromStellarton. She moved to Dartmouth in June and commuted daily toTruro.

"She couldn't have vanished into thin air," Garneau said. "Somebody has to have seen something."

"Even if it's something littlethat they might think is not something big, it could make a big difference."

'Excellent person, excellent officer'

Insp. Rob Hearnof the TruroPolice Service says she is a constable with the Truro Police Service and works patrol.

He says she was due at work Monday but didn't show up.

Hearn calls her an "excellent person, excellent officer."

Stellarton's mayor Joe Gennoe says Campbell grew up in the community and used to be a member of Stellarton's fire department.

"I'm shocked....The whole town, everybody is hoping it's going to end well," he says.

Const. Stacey Opalkasays police are concerned for her well being and and hoping the public will come forward with tips.

"There's no information too small," she says.
