The manager of a company which offers traffic control services has a simple message for drivers.

Slow down and be cautious of the workers, Kiernan Bishop, a manager with Stafford Security and Traffic Control said Friday on Maritime Noon.

The message comes on the heels of a driver hitting two roadside flaggers with his car in Sydney on Thursday.

Police have made an arrest and charges are pending.

Here's a map of where the incidents took place:

The first incident occurred with road construction taking place on Reeves Street and a flagger tried to direct a vehicle to turn right on to Macaulays Lane, but the driver insisted he had to continue straight on Reeves Street.

The man raised his middle finger and proceeded anyway, said Bishop.

Further down the road, another flagger told the vehicle to stop, and it did. The flagger told the driver to turn around. The vehicle repeatedly backed up and moved forward.

One flagger"heard a swift acceleration" and the man who was struck "went right up over the car, said Bishop.

At this point, the vehicle turned right on to Rockcliff Crescent and came out on the other end of the U-shaped street and turned right back on to Reeves Street.

The end of the street on this end meets up with Upper Prince Street and is a T-shaped intersection. There was another flagger at this location.

The man travelling in the grey car actually swerved over the yellow line and hit the flagger on the other end, said Bishop.

The first man struck was put on a stretcher and sent to hospital, but is expected to survive.

The second man struck was sore and stiff, but remained on scene and then went to hospital. He returned to work today.

Bishop says that other construction workers on site were saying the driver was yelling obscenities.

He said hed hit any one of them if they got too close, said Bishop.
