N.S. educational centre employee charged with sexual offences involving student

Nova Scotia RCMP say they have charged Colin Wilson, a 35-year-old Lantz, N.S., man, with sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person.

A mathintervention teacher employed by the Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education has been charged with sexual offences involving a student, say Nova Scotia RCMP.

In a news release Thursday, police said they received a report on June 3 alleging inappropriate contact with a student by a staff member who was working at Uniacke District School in Mount Uniacke, N.S.

"Officers began an investigation, which indicates that in December 2023, an intervention teacher employed in schools within the CCRCE jurisdiction had inappropriately touched a student on multiple occasions," the releasesaid.

Colin Wilson, 35, ofLantzhas been charged with sexual interference and sexual exploitation of a young person. He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie provincial court on Oct. 7.

Police said Wilson was placed on leave when concerns were first raised with the school districtin May 2024.He had worked at several different schools within the Chignecto-Central region.
