WestJet plans to start offering daily, non-stop flights from Nova Scotia to Scotland next year.

The Calgary-based airlinesaid they'll use a Boeing 737-700 aircraft for daily flights from Halifax to Glasgow. The service will start May 29, 2015, and run until Oct. 23, 2015. The flights will start in Toronto, touchdown in Halifax, and then carry on to Scotland.

"This year's launch of service toDublinhas proved popular with existing transatlantic flyers and with new guests alike, thanks to market growth driven by drastically reduced fares," saidBob Cummings, a WestJet vice-president.

"Increased European operational and marketing experience is important as we count the months until four Boeing 767-300ERW aircraft join our fleet to further grow our network."

It'll take about five hours and 15 minutes, which is about the same time as the Halifax to Calgary route. Flights will leave Toronto at 6:10 p.m., Halifax at 10:45 p.m. and land in Glasgow at 8 a.m. local times.

It'll leave Glasgow at 9:30 a.m. and land in Halifax at 11:45 a.m. It'll take off again and land in Toronto at 2:30 p.m.

A base one-way fee will start at $259 from Halifax, and $284.66 from Toronto.

The company started crossing the Atlantic in June with its flights between St. John's, Nfld., and Dublin, Ireland.
