Liberal wave ousts 6 cabinet ministers

Of the 11 NDP cabinet ministers running in Tuesday's election, only five will be returning to Province House.

Of the 11 NDP cabinet members running in Tuesday's election, only five will be returning to Province House. Sterling Belliveau of Queens-Shelburne, Denise Peterson-Rafuse of Chester-St.Margaret's, Maureen MacDonald of Halifax Needham, Frank Corbett of Cape Breton Centre and Dave Wilson in Sackville-Cobequid were re-elected in Tuesday's election as the Liberals secured a strong majority government.

NDP stalwart John MacDonell, who first took office in 1998, was defeated in his riding of Hants East. He lost to Liberal Margaret Miller. Attorney General and Minister of Justice Ross Landry lost his riding to the Progressive Conservative's Pat Dunn.
