2 men charged with murder in February killing of Yusuf Ibrahim

Two men have been arrested in the February 2015 killing of Yusuf Ibrahim, 27, who was shot in the back at a house on Forestglade Crescent.

Two men have been charged with first-degree murder inthe killing of Yusuf Ibrahim, who was out on bail when he was shot in the backat a home in the southeast part of thecity in February.

Mohamed Abdi Abdullahi, 32, andAbdullahi Osman,23were arrestedaround 5 a.m. Friday after a physical altercation between them spilled out onto the street, sources with the police's major crimesunitclose to the investigation confirmed to CBC News. The men are part of rivaling gangs, sources said.

CBC News has also learnedinvestigators are still searching for the weapon used to killIbrahim.

Gang connections

Ibrahim was a known Crips member with street name "Grinch."Sources say the two men arrested Friday are also known gang members.

Ibrahim was shot at a house on Forestglade Crescent, near Hunt Club and Hawthorne roads, on the morning of Feb.6, 2015. There had been a party at the house the night before.

The 27-year-old victimhad been out on bail after being accused in a violent incident at a night club on Dec. 7, court documents had shown.

He had been charged with assault, forcible confinement and possession for the purpose of trafficking after after an alleged beating at Vibe Lounge on Dec. 7. Two other men were also accused of participating in the attack.

Ibrahim's killing was the city's first homicide of 2015.
