2 pedestrians killed in separate Outaouais collisions overnight

A woman in her 60s is dead after being struck by a car on Route 105 Saturday night. Another pedestrian was struck and killed on Saint-Louisstreet in the Touraine district in Gatineau.

Accidents occurred on Route 105 in Messines and Saint-Louis street in Gatineau

Two separate vehicle collisions on Saturday night in the Outaouaisregion have left two pedestrians dead.

The first happened at about8:45 p.m. on Route 105 in Messines.

According to theSret du Qubec, a pedestrian in her 60s was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in the dark. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Maniwaki hospital,where she was pronounced dead.

A reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene to establish the circumstances and causes of the accident. The road reopened to traffic at 1:40 a.m.

The second accidentoccurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. when another pedestrian was struckonSaint-Louis Street in the Touraine district in Gatineau, police said.

Emergency services transported the victim to the Hull hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The area remainedclosed to traffic on Sunday morning while police investigated the incident.
